COL Lisa A. Lehning began her military career as an ROTC Cadet at Georgetown University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and received her commission as an Army nurse in 1990. Her assignments include Hawaii (Tripler)(1990-1994), Honduras (1995), Korea (1996), Germany (1997–2000), Fort Sam Houston (BAMC) (2000-2003), Fort Lewis (2005-2007), Human Resource Command, Washington, D.C. (2007-2009), Fort Sam Houston (BAMC) (2009-2012), Office of the Surgeon General (2012-2013) and her current assignment as the Deputy Commander for Patient Services & Nursing, William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC), Ft Bliss, Texas. COL Lehning has deployed to Cuba, Philippines, Thailand, Honduras, Haiti and has had multiple deployments to Southeast Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2005, COL Lehning earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington, specializing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Trauma/Critical Care and earning her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree. COL Lehning is a licensed Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is also a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and holds national certification in emergency nursing (CEN), critical care (CCRN), and flight nursing (CFRN).
