William Beaumont Army Medical Center's Ophthalmology Service provides state of the art comprehensive surgical and medical care of the eyes and surrounding tissues for all eligible patients: active duty and TRICARE Prime dependents, under 65 year old TRICARE Prime retirees and dependents, and over 65 year old retirees and dependents. The staff specializes in the latest technique (small incision, no stitch phacoemusification) for cataract removal with intraocular lens implant, and offers routine and urgent glaucoma, strabismus, vitreo-retinal, and oculoplastic surgical treatments, as well as most laser procedures. We also provide medical care of all eye and adenexal diseases to include neuro-ophthalmologic problems. However, in order to render prompt and efficient care to as many patients with surgical and medical diseases of the eyes as possible, refractions and spectacle / contact lens prescriptions are not offered to any patients over five years of age by the Ophthalmology Service.
